OWH-4th of July Blog Hop Weekend Virtual Challenge

SUBWAY ART-SUMMER MEMORIES

OWH 4TH OF JULY BLOG HOP WEEKEND VIRTUAL CHALLENGE

Welcome to my blog and thank you for coming by, I hope you enjoy my challenge.

I chose to remember our CHILDHOOD SUMMER MEMORIES.

I had so much fun designing this card, remembering my childhood and all the things I enjoyed during my summer breaks from school.  I hope it inspires you to design your SUMMER MEMORIES CARD too.

You can submit your entry from my challenge below by using the InLinkz button at the bottom of this post.  In addition, you can send your cards to OWH in support of our brave men and women serving in our armed services.

Your challenge is to make a card using the SUBWAY ART technique.  Your card needs to be no larger than 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, so it can be mailed in a standard A2 envelope.  Here is my completed card.

How to make your Subway Art
In designing my card I made a list of my favorite SUMMER MEMORIES in a Word document, went back changed the font style and color for each, then made adjustments to the font size for each line so it comes out evenly.

The green paper ribbon border (MS) was punched on both sides, then layered with the pink ribbon border punch (EK Success).
I wrapped the yarn around the card and tied a bow to secure it.
Subway Art is 3x3, then layered with the black and blue paper.

  • Specialty Paper: K&Company-Citronella
  • Card stock: White for card base and Black
  • Punches: MS and EK Success
  • Embellishment: Yarn-Sugar'n Cream-Denim Twists
  • Extras: Pop-ups (sentiment
Please use the first link to upload your card, thanks.

****BLOG CANDY ALERT****
Please leave a comment on my blog and mail your challenge entry(ies) to OWH.  A winner will be chosen from comments received (challenge entry required) by using a random number generator.

Nancy F, you are the lucky winner.  Please email me your full name and mailing address so I can mail your Blog Candy to you.  Thanks for playing along.

"Subway Art" is a new term/technique to me. What exactly is it?

Thanks for enlightening me to a brand new challenge that I really enjoyed! I just love all the fruity colors on your card, and wasn't it fun to revisit those carefree days of summer when we were children?! Great idea!

Thanks Marti for a very interesting challenge! The "subway art" idea was new to me, and I will use it again. I did my words with multiple PowerPoint text boxes, which made it easy to position them across lines and mix up the sizes.
